Joining Walden University. I want to know is their MS. degree in Psychology acepted here in New York? I want to make sure I’m not wasting money for nothing. I am going into clinical psyc and had no time to go to school so I wanted to take a shot at the online schools. Please let me know about this. Thanks in advance for all info provided.

I thought of doing this, too, until I called the APA (Americal Psychological Association): they are the national accredition board for psychologists (both clinical and experimental) in the United States. Walden University is not an APA-accredited program, therefore, you will not be eligible for state licensure. Your best bet is to find an APA-accredited program. You can contact the APA or search the web for those types of programs. In New York, SUNY has an excellent psychology program.

P.S. A Psy.D. or Ph.D. is required to become a clinical psychologist and this is a very competitive and demanding field. The tassle is worth the hassle!

Best wishes.

Contact the New York State Dept. Of Education. Office is in Albany. This is the Dept. who handles the licensing of Psychologists. They will be able to ans. your questions. Yes in NYS you need a license to practice.
