I am a Software Enginneer with B.E (Computer Science) degree. I would like to know about the institutes which provide online MBA degree. I have tried a few sites but coud not find much information about it. Any pointers ?

What you need to check is;
is the the university accreditted?
How good is the syllabus? (Don’t go for any thing that seems easy because you will be wasting your time and money)
Do employers prefer other online unis?

Once you get the answers to these questions, you will be able to paint a picture for your self.

There are many other online colleges. Not all may offer the degree that you want.

An MBA from a top 15 school will allow you to get a six figure salary and a job in nearly any field. An MBA from a ranked college not in the top 15 will allow you to increase your salary and will help you get a great job. An MBA from an unranked program will do very little for you in terms of getting more money or a new job — but may help you get ahead in your current position. But an MBA from an online university will actually make it harder for you to get a good job. Employers will laugh at your resume and throw it away.

The University of Phoenix, for example, is a For Profit corporation that costs more than reputable state universities. They were recently fined a record $9.8MM for sleazy recruiting practices. I’ve read that they are currently being investigated for padding their placement numbers. In addition, companies like Intel have decided that they will not pay for their employees to take classes there — because they lack rigor.

I want a couple different bachelor’s degrees, and I was wondering if online college degrees (like the university of phoenix) are treated the same when applying for a job? Because with working a full time job, and already going to school full time, I don’t have time for anymore on campus classes, so an online school sounds tempting for one of the degrees I want. Did I lose everyone already?

Your degree will not state whether your classes where taken one way or the other. It will simply have the name of the university/college.

There are a bunch of traditional schools that offer courses online. Maybe looking at a community college or small school to save on costs may help. The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Just wondering if anyone has heard good or bad about the U of Phoenix online school?

Frankly, no. When someone is hiring you, they will give much less credit to an online degree than they would to a degree from an accredited state school, earned "in person" so to speak. If there is any indication that you degree was earned online, you will not earn nearly as much respect as you would if you went to a state school. If you can handle going to one, I would do so over attaining the online degree.

I want to attend Kaplan or Phoenix on line to obtain a two year degree then transfer to a Cal state university to obtain my four year degree. Is that possible?

If I were you, I would invest in a community college education. Kaplan and UoP are for profit schools. If you decide to get an associates through them, you will owe them $20,000-$40,000 in tuition. Community colleges are just a fraction of what a for-profit school charges, and you will get a much better education through them (and many of them have online courses). On top of that, many employers red flag resumes with degrees that were earned at for-profit’s.

I speak from experience. I almost attended DeVry for grad school until I came to my senses and withdrew on day one of the class. I never logged in, so I am getting a 100% tuition refund. But they tried real hard to keep me in. So I have found a brick and mortar school that provides distance education.

Reconsider your decision to attend either Kaplan or UoP. You will be better off in the long run.
