Has anyone earned a degree online with the University of Phoenix? Are credits transferrable to other schools? ?

Can someone that graduated tell me what their experience was after receiving an online degree with UOP? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It really depends on your field of study. I have never had a problem getting a job with any of my nursing degrees: Associates from a private college, Bachelor’s from a state university, and Master’s from an online university (UOP).

Call the professional organizations/governing body for your profession. Talk to recruiters/employers before you register. Do they require you to attend a certain type of school? Does you school need to be accredited? By any specific bodies? Use this information when you are looking at any school, not just UOP.

UOP is accredited by several bodies. Use this list when talking to recruiters/employers: http://www.phoenix.edu/about_us/accreditation.aspx

I enjoyed UOP more than the traditional school I got my AA and BS from. My masters program consisted of discussions, papers, and projects. For me, the benefit of being able to do school work on my own schedule outweighed the cons of the high cost.

I was working as a nursing educator at a university hospital while attending UOP. My supervisors were supportive of me going to school and liked that I wasn’t taking off work to go to traditional classes. I was able to use many of my work projects for school projects also, killing two birds with one stone so to speak.

Within two months of graduating I had two new job offers (one from a private college and one from the university hospital). I was even on a phone interview in less than an hour of commencement, I was still in my regalia even.

I took the job teaching nursing at the private college. That same semester they hired another faculty member who was completing her Masters at UOP. I am now back at the university hospital, and another nurse is completing her Masters at UOP.

what is the best online-degree school? ?

I was looking at the university of phoenix and US career institute and i need to do an online degree with no on-campus classes for a paralegal,if anyone can give me advice?? thanks!!

There are tons of online programs. I personally attended American Intercontinental Univ. and Capella University, and I have taught for various online schools over the last five years. All are accredited and solid programs. Online courses tend to vary in price, so we could say they are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies.

The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Is it worth it? YES. My career has boomed since my MBA at nearly 5 years ago. I am close to finishing my PhD through distance education, and I am at the job that I want. I know I wouldn’t be here without the education. If you are looking at work in the U.S., then you need a school that is accredited and recognized by the Dept of Ed. I can give more info on that later.

You should market yourself and not the degree or university. There are many traditional universities offering degrees that can be earned through online methods. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

are online schools worth doing like university of phoenix and kaplan university ( online) good or any online?

I AM TRYING TO GET A DEGREE AND AND DONT WANT TO GET IN DEBT FOR NOTHING

I received my MBA from UOP. It has caused me no problems and has given me the credentials I need. It is a good school. However, here are things to consider.

The business school is only regionally accredited. If you believe you can pass a GMAT then go to another online school like Stanford. However, if you do not think you need the AASCB ( I hope the acronym is right), then UOP will be fine.

If you are over 22 and need a BA, I suggest you go to night school and a local traditional college which offers adult accelerated courses.

If you already have a BA from a traditional school and have a good work background, then a graduate diploma from UOP can really help you. In addition, if your town has a UOP campus, then that will help too.

I mention all of the above because those are things to consider before taking courses from for-profit schools like UOP or Kaplan. It depends on what you want in the outcome. For instance, some people need prestige and some people just need the degree. I just needed the degree and the knowledge. UOP gave me both. I hope this helps.

is there any apa accredited schools online for paralegal ?

is there any schools accredited and apa authorized for paralegal associates degree online? I checked on the apa site and did not find anything. I thought maybe the site was not updated with current schools

I’m not sure but please note that I’d asked my friend’s mom who worked in human resources at a law firm about paralegal, and she said that they generally need a bachelor’s degree in ‘something’ (and most likely training from aba approved program) to possibly gain employment. I’d spoken with a lawyer many years ago, and he said that he can merely hire a law student as an intern for less money and not have to provide job benefits, just fyi :)

If still wanting training, please forgo those private $$ schools and look into the county vo-tech school or community college (perhaps non-credit course) as long as it’s accredited.

Please be wary of those online, for-profit schools such as penn foster, university of phoenix, capella, kaplan and others: http://www.capellauniversitysucks.us

What is the BEST online college for a B.A. or a B.S. in Psychology? Please Help!?

***i’ve searched kaplan university, baker online college, walden university to name a few. and i saw the degree reviews from thise schools and they all mostly got panned. and now im just very unsure which online sch to choose from that is not a scam and is affordable. Thx.

There are tons of online programs. I personally attended traditional and online-only schools, and I have taught for various online schools and traditional schools over the last five years. All are accredited and solid programs. Schools tend to vary in price, so we could say online schools are more expensive, but that is relative. Of course they are more expensive than a community college, but less expensive than Harvard. The price range varies.

Do any of you currently or did enroll in Kaplan University Online?

I am interested in getting a BA degree in Human Resources Management, and I am strictly looking at Online Schools. Is Kaplan a good choice?

I’m thinking that UoP is probably the best known of the online only schools but I don’t know that I believe that they have the best reputation.

Be sure that you look beyond the online only schools, they’re good for some people but there are other options out there and most with a solid educational reputation.

Consider:
Central Michigan
Indiana State
Southern New Hampshire
U Arkansas
U Maryland

as just a couple options for online HR study at major state schools.

Consider too whether you want an undergrad in HRM or if you’d be better off with a bachelor’s in business and a master’s in HR or an MBA. The bachelor’s in business will open HR doors and many more but an HR bachelor’s will restrict you generally to HR.

Becoming a nurse

Youve picked a great time to explore a career in nursing, because youve never been needed more! These days, many hospitals are reporting that 10 percent or more of their budgeted positions for registered nurses are vacant. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for nurses is expected to grow much faster than other careers – at least 27 percent by the year 2014.

As the baby boomer population ages and their health care needs increase, as nurses retire faster than new ones come into the field – the demand for registered nurses only gets stronger.

Because of the high demand, registered nurses are now able to command a very respectable salary. According to Salary.Com, the median salary for a registered nurse in the United States is currently 9,061.

What does this mean for you? It means that with a degree as a Registered Nurse, you can earn a great salary and you have endless opportunities for employment in a wide variety of settings. You can work with children, with the elderly, in hospitals, in doctors offices, for the federal government, in resorts, on cruise ships, in the criminal justice system, in clinics, in schools, and in so many other places we cant list them all. Because nurses are needed around the clock, you can pick what shifts you want to work, and if you need extra money you can work all of the overtime that you can handle.
