Good Luck!

Whats a good online degree to get? Are all of them a joke?

Has anyone ever been sucessful in finding a job using an online degree? If so what degree did you earn and from what college did you attend? Thanks, I am stay at home mom looking to move forward in my education :) I just don’t know what feild I would like to get into. I saw a few nursing degrees that are online, but i know i’m not going to get any job with a online nursing degree. Most companies what more hands on in that feild.

You have to be careful when choosing the college that you get an online degree from. Some of them are jokes; they aren’t regionally accredited, and don’t hire people with advanced degrees to teach the classes.

There are some excellent universities that offer a variety of degrees. I’m not sure where you live, of course, but I’m familiar with a couple of them and can recommend them.

Utah State University has on-line associate’s, bachelor’s and advanced degrees. Some of them are available entirely online. They offer degrees in the social sciences, education, business, and computer science.

Emporium State University in Kansas also has a distance ed program that offers bachelor and advanced degrees. The bachelor degrees require that a student has already completed 60 credits of college.

Utah Valley State College has a program that offers an associate’s degree entirely online. It is an excellent program. They also offer live help online, and an online library.

John and Mariah Bear offer a book full of information about distance education. It is available in bookstores and libraries. They also have a website. On that site you may want to check out "100 Schools" on the list in the center of their homepage.

Question about online courses offered by online universities?

I am considering going online to get a degree for paralegal studies. Are these online degrees legit, or scam? I am divided..it seems that they might offer something but yet I have a voice in the back of my head that screams scam. Any advice?

As long as you obtain your degree from a regionally accredited college it should be recognized by potential employers and other academic institutions.
This site has some good information on regionally accredited online paralegal degrees and some colleges to help begin/expand your search:

I would recommend contacting a number of schools to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, reputation by potential employers). Good Luck!

If you get an online degree from the University of Phoenix, does your degree actually say "online degree"?

Just wondering if anyone here has gotten their degree online from the UofP. If so, does your degree actually say (or refer to) "online degree"? Thanks!

No, it’s not on the diploma but most people make that connection by assumption if you have a UoP diploma. If that’s an issue for you then you might be happier with a diploma from a State U online program such as UMass or Florida State.

you can see a UoP diploma online at:

What are some good online colleges for obtaining a degree in Computer Science?
