Is an online College Degree worth it in the eyes of employers?

I am thinking of enrolling at the University of Phoenix Online, to get a bachelors in Psychology will employers look down on an online degree?

I have been told that now a days employers are fine with an online degree, as long as it is from a good school. Phoenix is considered a good online college. expensive, but good. I think that if one had a degree from ‘george’s home schooling’ then they might think twice about seeing it as a ‘real’ degree.

Also most employers I have been told know that most if not all people work a lot and have little time to get to a class room, so online school are becoming good ways to get degrees.

I am have been trying to get my online school started. I also have been worried about what employers will think so i have been looking at colleges that people alreay know.

Most colleges offer classes and online degree programs. Harvard and Yale even. But with them you have to have at least an Associates degree first to get a bacholors or masters online..

I am going with right now, Bluegrass comminity college. Its a college in central kentucky and its a ‘real’ college..

If you are worried about what employers will think I would look into getting a degree with a ‘real’ brick and morter college, You know like harvard, yale, michigan state, places like that.. So when you are asked where you went to college all you have to really do is give them a college name and you do not have to tell them you got it online cause most of the time they will not ask if it is a college that people got to for classes.

Good Luck..

Is Kaplan University seen in the Professional world as an Accredited college even though it is an Online U?

I was told that some online universities are not taken seriously or seen as a "real" form of higher education. However, I have heard nothing but great things with Kaplan University. I am interested in taking classes towards a Social Work degree and would like to have some opinions from employers. Thank you in advance:)

Its not a bad school for nursing if you can’t get into any other college or can’t hack it elsewhere.

The University’s School of Nursing was awarded a national professional accreditation for its Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in April 2006 from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Other then that though, no. This is not a college well recognized in the professional sense.

Ashford University again?

I have posted 2 weeks ago a question about ASHFORD UNIVERSITY online. Some of you have said that a degree with them is pretty much worthless. I have many hours from different colleges, and at Ashford I will need only 33 h. of upper division to finish my major. Somehow I feel like that college is a spam, money mone money….. I know it cost a lot, but I have only 11 classes left…. this is the easiest way to get a B.A as fast as I can. I am tired to go to school at night, becaus eI have to stay home with my kids during the day..
PLEASE give me more info about this college or anyother ONLINE COLLEGE

thanks

I did a little research on it.

It is a regionally accredited university with an actual campus, and that is good news. It has been around since 1918, so it is not a recent online only college startup.

It is owned by a for profit company. That is not so good. The general concern one has about for profit universities is that they may sacrifice educational quality for profits.

US News and World Report has a profile on them. It lists them as being less selective, and ranks them in the fourth tier among colleges in their category.

If you are getting your degree online, you are on the right track in going for colleges with a campus, and with regional accreditation. But if you can find one that is better recognized it may serve you well in the end, even it if takes a little longer to complete your degree.

What does an online college degree cost?

Can anyone tell me what they paid for a good college degree online.
What level AA BA etc. Were and how much did it cost?

IMHO the best and most cost effective online degree is Harvard extension school:

You cant beat Harvard reliability. The catch is – a few classes must be done on campus. The cost – about $700-800 per subject.

Thanks
