Is an online college degree treated the same as an actual university degree?

I want a couple different bachelor’s degrees, and I was wondering if online college degrees (like the university of phoenix) are treated the same when applying for a job? Because with working a full time job, and already going to school full time, I don’t have time for anymore on campus classes, so an online school sounds tempting for one of the degrees I want. Did I lose everyone already?

Your degree will not state whether your classes where taken one way or the other. It will simply have the name of the university/college.

There are a bunch of traditional schools that offer courses online. Maybe looking at a community college or small school to save on costs may help. The key is to find a program that is fully accredited. Distance Learning Alliance has a list of these traditional online schools. Look at that if you are truly concerned with the name of the school. Good luck on your search!

Are you required to have college credits or a Bachelors degree, before pursing a paralegal certificate?

I see alot of jobs posted online that states that either you need a bachelors degree, or a paralegal certificate. But when I search online for aba approved paralegal certificate programs, most of them say that you need a Bachelors degree or 60 college credits. Thanks

From the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Most entrants have an associate degree in paralegal studies, or a bachelor’s degree coupled with a certificate in paralegal studies.

Check local community colleges or accredited business schools in your area to see if they offer an associates in paralegal studies.

Online degree – Master’s (public health) vs MBA? Graduate from top college vs not so good graduate school?

(1) I intend to stay in the healthcare finance industry. Which graduate degree will be more beneficial for my career development (and possibly higher income) — getting a master’s (in public health) or MBA?

(2) For my undergrad degree, I graduated from a top national college. There are more nationally reputable online master’s programs than online MBA programs. Is it better to have the "name" than the type of graduate degree (MBA vs MPH)?

The MBA gives you the biggest bang for the buck. In other words, you get the most money back for every dollar you spend on a MBA. So, a MBA is more valuable that a regular Master’s degree.

If you’re going to get a MBA, you should definitely go to a top college. As far as online degrees go, a lot of employers do not respect them. I would stay away from online universities – unless it was backed by a top university (e.g. – NYU Online, UPenn Wharton Online courses, etc.)

Is an online college degree worthwhile? What’s the best school?

I have a Masters already from a regular college, but i’m considering getting a degree in another subject , perhaps even a PHd. Will an online degree get laughed at by potential employers?

Online programs continue to grow in popularity and acceptance. Many of the finest campus programs have begun offering degrees online because of the advantages they offer. Additionally most programs do not indicate whether your degree was earned online or on campus. That being said not all schools are the same. Just as how some campus programs are not viewed favorably by potential employers same thing goes for online schools. I would recommend contacting a number of schools to see which one is the best fit for you and has the best reputation. I would also make sure that any school you are considering is accredited. I did a search for accredited online degrees and this site seems to have good information and some schools to check out that offer masters degrees, graduate certificate programs and phd degrees. Good luck.
