I want to attend law school but do they recognize online degrees through Kaplan University?

So I spoke to a kapalan advisor and they stated that they have the highest accredidation possible and i am able to transfer to any U once i complete my BA program. The only problem is I don’t know if a law school will accept a ba online degree. I recenetly completed my aa through one of kaplan’s sister school called maric, but i don’t know if their credits are transferable to my state U. I want to eventually go to law schoole but i want to know if i should take the kaplan route or just start all over again at JC. Kaplan said they have an advanced start program since i recieved my aa and i would only have to complete half the time and half the cost since they already give me 90 credits for starting with them and any prereqs i may have completed within my aa. The cost of any BA program through kapalan is 57,000 the advanced start BA program cost 28,000 with the exception you have an (aa,as, etc.). May someone please give me some positive feedback on how i can find me way to law school.
I know that my ugpa has to be excellent and my lsat scores have to be outstanding, but i would still like to know if it’s even accepted say at Stanford. I plan on making my way back to the bay area to attend Santa Clara U or Stanford if and only if the right route is Kaplan.

I teach undergraduate law courses for several schools online and I have taught for Kaplan (although I no longer teach for them). Many of my students ask me if their degree will be "accepted" by a law school. You know folks can talk about accreditation all day long … but when the school officials are behind closed doors making admission decisions and see one person has graduated from a brick and mortar school (which law schools are) and another student did it all online, I can’t help but think there is a little bias in that decision-making process. My students who are taking online courses from schools that have real campuses, like Davenport University or Ashford University, will not have this problem since it is impossible to tell from their degree whether they attended classes on campus or online. If law school is your absolute goal I would recommend you go to a non-online school … or at the very least take online classes from a school that is a campus school with an online program (like Davenport, Ashford, Baker, Southern New Hampshire, Troy, Park … etc.). I hope that helps!

Do any of you currently or did enroll in Kaplan University Online?

I am interested in getting a BA degree in Human Resources Management, and I am strictly looking at Online Schools. Is Kaplan a good choice?

I’m thinking that UoP is probably the best known of the online only schools but I don’t know that I believe that they have the best reputation.

Be sure that you look beyond the online only schools, they’re good for some people but there are other options out there and most with a solid educational reputation.

Consider:
Central Michigan
Indiana State
Southern New Hampshire
U Arkansas
U Maryland

as just a couple options for online HR study at major state schools.

Consider too whether you want an undergrad in HRM or if you’d be better off with a bachelor’s in business and a master’s in HR or an MBA. The bachelor’s in business will open HR doors and many more but an HR bachelor’s will restrict you generally to HR.

can anyone tell me if Kaplan university online is any good? Are thier degrees solid? Are thier prices fair?

seeking online degree in law with continuing education later in law

There is no REAL online degree in law. Anywhere.

In order to practice law, one must go to law school AFTER attaining one’s bachelor’s degree.

If you MUST take online courses, you should DEFINITELY take them under the auspices of a well-known and REGIONALLY (not nationally) accredited university. Many reputable state universities offer affordable online courses (and even degrees) these days. Please do research before you waste your money. Stay away from for-profit online schools. Stick with Distance Education programs from known state schools.

Here is a list of regional accreditation associations. If the program you are considering is not accredited by one of these bodies, you should look elsewhere.

Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools
New England Association of Schools and Colleges
North Central Association of Colleges and Schools
Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges
Western Association of Schools and Colleges
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools

Is a Kaplan University degree recognized by employers?

If you have ever had any experience with Kaplan or an online institution, or if you know someone who has I just want to know how likley a graduate of the online institutions are to get a job

I have worked admissions for colleges and the answer is "it depends". If your job requires a certification, like CPA for example, then there’s a good chance an online program isn’t worth it. However, if the school is accredited in the field of training then you have a better chance.
The best thing to do is ask the Admissions Rep. They have to tell you what certifications you will qualify for, not what you will "potentially" qualify for. Make sense? Also, colleges have to keep up with hire rates per program. Nicely demand to see proof of hire rates for the program you’re looking into taking.

But it has been my experience that most employers are looking for someone who has a solid work ethic. If you can show them that you did get solid, current training, that you maintained a high GPA, and a strong attendance record then you can probably land a job with no problem. Think about it, you will have shown them your a hard worker, will give an above average performance, and that you’ll show up. Most will jump to interview you.

One final note, check what their career service placement is like. Most colleges now offer lifetime career service assistance and that can be handy if 5yrs down the road your job is phased out or the place burns down or….

I hope this helps!

Online Nursing Degree From Kaplan University…?

Ok so my mom has been trying to go to be a nurse at CNM (central new mexico community college) and its like taking forever so i am going to suggest Kaplan what do you guys think…she is a single mom raising me and my brother so she is having a hard time trying to devote all of her time to going to school…

Don’t sabotage her chances at a real degree. While it will take a while, she will get a recognizable degree. Online for-profit businesses (they are not colleges) are not recognized. In particular, the concept of an online nursing program scares me.

Comments on online Kaplan University?

Has anyone earned a college degree through online Kaplan University? Or anyone has heard bout Kaplan online college? Do you recommend me to go in? Is it a good online College?

I attended a semester at Kaplan University and was told by an advisor it would definately be recognized by The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. To my dismay it is not accepted and I was left with useless credits that I could not carry on and a $4,000 bill. Kaplan was a great experience as long as your state recognizes it.
